XBox 360 Free Red Ring Repair - Friend Or Foe?

Is the XBox 360 free red ring repair a friend or a foe? Is it a friend because they are free and people have had some success? Or are there hidden dangers? What do you think?

I know this might be the last question on your mind when your XBox 360 is sitting there flashing its red lights at you. I know that you just want to find a solution to get your XBox 360 back up in running order.

But, don't you want to make sure that the method will be safe for your XBox 360 and that it will be guaranteed to work? I mean, you don't want to try a fix and then have that method ruin your chances of playing your XBox 360 again. Do you?

I know a popular XBox 360 free red ring repair method is the towel method. While it may work, it only works for a few hours or a few days at most. Even though it may work, your XBox 360 is at risk when you use that method.

The main cause of hardware failure in an XBox 360 is due to overheating.

The thinking behind the towel method is to superheat the XBox 360 to melt out any problems. Now, I don't know about you, but that doesn't make too much sense to me. If the cause of the failure is overheating, why would you want to try super overheating your XBox 360? Not only are you at danger of frying the electronics, you could theoretically set your XBox 360, your towel, and any surrounding dry materials on fire!
